What We Offer
At Costa Rica Nature Adventures, we are committed to providing our customers with the best and most extensive service possible. We do this by putting you first, by understanding your needs and providing you with excellent products and award-winning adventure travel options. Since 1986 our company has been a respected leader in the field of adventure travel, offering a wide range of services that include hotel accommodation, car rentals, white water rafting and some of Costa Rica’s best-loved tours. We own and operate the unique Pacuare Lodge, an enchanting jungle hideaway located on the banks of the Pacuare River - one of Costa Rica’s first true eco-lodges. We are a customer-oriented company that offers personalized service and individual attention in every facet of our customers’ experience, from the reservation process to completion of the tour. Emphasizing a total service experience, we specialize in custom-made itineraries that cater to our customers’ needs and instructions and include everything from an airport transfer to off-the-beaten track expeditions. We are intimately familiar with all the tours and services we offer, whether our own or subcontracted. If for any reason we feel a request is not possible, or not in our customer’s best interest, then we respectfully but firmly say so.
Our Company is fully licensed by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism. In addition, we have been granted a number of international awards highlighting our dedication to the environment. Safety Comes First
At Costa Rica Nature Adventures, your safety is our main priority. Our guides are fully trained, our equipment is state-of-the-art, and we continually monitor conditions to make certain every trip is run safely and with the highest standards of quality. All of our tours are periodically reassessed to optimize your safety and comfort. This includes everything from our choice of hotels, drivers and transportation, to the training of our guides and the equipment we use. Each trip begins with a thorough safety orientation and complete first aid and emergency kits are available at all times. We personally operate the majority of the tours we offer, and only subcontract services to companies of outstanding reputation and impeccable safety records. It is our goal to provide the highest quality standards and equipment available while striving for the most enjoyable experience possible. Our record speaks for itself, and reflects this profound concern for the safety of our guests. Costa Rica Nature Adventures reserves the right to cancel any trip or change rafting trips to an alternative river or section because of weather, unsafe water conditions or any other circumstances that could endanger the safety of our guests and guides. In Harmony With Nature
Costa Rica Nature Adventures is an environmentally sensitive company dedicated to protecting Costa Rica’s rich biodiversity and fragile natural habitats. To this end we have continually strived to forge relationships with like-minded companies. This is reflected in the hotels and lodges we choose, the people we hire, and the equipment we use. Our very own Pacuare Lodge was designed to minimally impact the stunning natural paradise around it, and is accessible only by raft or four wheel drive vehicle with a scenic hike along the river.
The lodge boasts no generators for electricity. Guests are provided with candles for use in the bungalows, and the main lodge is lit with gas lanterns at night. Our bungalows and lodge are constructed from wood purchased from a sustainable reforestation project operated by and benefiting small local farmers. We took special care to ensure that no trees were taken down from our site of primary rainforest. The Pacuare Lodge has been recognized by the World Tourism Organization as 1 of only 65 examples throughout the world of good practice in sustainability and ecotourism. Though any site will have some impact on the natural environment in which it is placed, the design and maintenance of the lodge have at their very core our commitment to minimal impact and maximum education and enjoyment!

Our Professional Staff
All of our staff is committed to and focused on customer satisfaction - which means we know our customers are the real key to true success. Our motivated team embraces a spirit of adventure and true concern for the environment and is dedicated to providing you with friendly personalized service that focuses on your individual needs and preferences. Our tours have been carefully selected and tested to ensure the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction. Our ground staff and drivers are certified in first aid and CPR and consistently provide our guests with a safe and highly entertaining adventure experience. All of our bilingual river guides are subjected to a rigorous year around training program designed to acquaint them with the latest techniques and safety procedures. Additionally, our river guides are trained in swift-water rescue and many have additional certifications such as wilderness first aid and wilderness first responder. Our guides are among the best in the country, a group of dedicated professionals that add unique insight and humor to each of the tours we offer. We at Costa Rica Nature Adventures are proud of our exceptional employees and their dedication to providing our customers with outstanding travel adventures.
Our Costa Rica offices are conveniently located in the heart of San José, on 5th Avenue, between 33 and 35 streets. We are open year-round, seven days a week, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

More Than Tourism
Like many isolated rural areas in Costa Rica, infrastructure in the community where the Pacuare River put in and the Pacuare Lodge are located is limited and poorly maintained by the government. From the beginning, we have strongly believed that responsible tourism should benefit and respect local communities. To this end we have implemented Our Community Support Program, which works directly with people and institutions in the Pacuare area by providing economic assistance, improving and maintaining roads, and by coordinating the donation of economic resources and equipment. A percentage of each Internet reservation is donated directly to the three primary schools located along the Pacuare River between Tres Equis and Siquirres. Gifts and donations for these schools are also welcome, and will be transferred in their entirety to the school boards (no administrative or other fees are deducted), who use the funds for much-needed materials and student services. For larger donations by people going on one of our overnight Pacuare trips, we will arrange a personal visit on horseback to the Bajo del Tigre School to meet the teacher and schoolchildren.
